PTA Meeting February 11th

 

Attendance – Christine Cochran, Tara Hailey, Kristina Greene, Jen Gulezian, Joan Harper, Joanne Casazza, Susan Stanganelli, Kristine Nippert, Ms. Heiser, Anna Parrill, Joan Kurr

 

Welcome – Christine Cochran

Motion to approve minutes from January – motion by Joan Harper second by Christine and approved by anyone.

 

Budget Report – Kristina Greene

*Please pass in all receipts from Cultural Festival 

*Cultural Event we spent $463 and took in $378 with raffles

*There is $1500 for the staging in the budget

*Shirts / sweatshirts are likely to bring in less than $200

*Easter Pie Guy Fundraiser – motion by Christine and second Tara all in favor

*We also have the Artworks Fundraiser - Letter went out last week Art Work will be sent in by March 7th we are gearing this towards May8th which will be in time for Mothers day – we should get the order forms with a magnet example by March 25th – official flyer will go out with an order form.  

*Movie Night there is currently no budget as last year it came out of enrichment – 99 will give us big bags of popcorn – Yes we should have an ipod give away We have a $280 from PTA convention not used – Kristine Nippert proposes a $500 line item for Movie night second by Sue Stanganelli and all in favor – Movie Night will take place March 14th – Are we going to ask for donations  - Kristine Nippert has offered to donate one ipod.

* Sue Stanganelli needs Tax ID letter and will go to Best Buy and Circuit City looking for donation.

 

Feedback Cultural Event – Christine Cochran +Kristine Nippert

*Joan Kurr has agreed to do all of the PTA thank-you notes

*The high school staff and volunteers were so helpful – for next year more food and may go to restaurants to ask for food donations – raffles for food donations and raffles for ethnic dress – suggestions more baskets smaller – We need more volunteers if playing games – People show up too early and in the future we need to be ready in the busport.  

*Open house was at the high school on the same night so next year check dates with other school’s functions. Revisit times and dates next year if we think it should be scheduled later or on a Friday night.

T Shirt Sales Feedback – Tara- Hailey

*T-shirts 82 units profit of $150.  Ms. Heiser knows a shirt printer in the Salem Depot and will check with his business as the present company we are using is retiring – We may have a cash and carry t-shirt sale at the Picnic and if left over sell at the Holiday Store

 

Yearbook Committee – Christine Cochran and Anna Parrill

*We are looking for volunteers with interest, time, and creativity.  Letters went out to the 5th graders and to the teachers.  Kristine advised you need a lot more time so we should solicit more volunteers.  Ideas - Give every teacher a camera  or give a room  an assignment to take pictures – Meeting is 6:30pm on Wednesday night Feb 13th. We should probably set up an account with Shutterfly/Snapfish.  There are presently only 4 on the committee including (Marianne H., Anna, Susan, and Michelle Whitaker)  

 

Principal Matters – Ms. Anna Parrill

*Readathon is under way. 

*Cultural night was excellent –

*School board presentation Februaury 12th for those interested. Fourth graders to do the presentation –

*Deliberative session all 13 articles moved forward.

* We passed the 100th day and we may end on time if snow will hold out.  Stay tuned for the last day of school. 

*The book chat is 3/5/07 Snow flower and the Secret fan is the name of the book to be discussed.  This is also the same day as the talent show try out.

*Teacher In-Service 3/10+3/11

* Anna to have more information about the staging at the next meeting.
